Excellent Eggs, don't forget to test & why NR and NMN are still a??

1) CoQ10 - is an important antioxidant & is key for cell mitochondria function - thus ATP for healthy cell division and reducing DNA/chromosomal abnormalities in egg cells.
Follicular fluid levles decline with age. Taken 2-3 months prior to an IVF cycle, CoQ10 improved egg maturation, fertilization rates, and blastocyst numbers in women over 35 or those with diminished ovarian reserve.
2) Rehmannia six - a herbal formula - Studies suggest TCM formulas containing Rehmannia can support ovarian response & embryo quality when used alongside IVF, however the clinical trials are small.
3) Royal Jelly > good for the queen bee - the ultimate egg layer! A small 2023 fertility IVF study showed the clinical pregnany rate in women under 40 with low AMH, taking 1gm of Royal Jelly, was 66.7% in RJ grp vs 30% in the control.
DON'T forget to test & optimise
Iron - Iron stores (Ferritin) aim for 55- 80µg/L as developing eggs require huge amounts of iron for cellular energy. Iron acts as a core component of the enzymes that drive this energy production. Iron is essential for oxygenating ovarian tissue.
VIt D - levels of 70-100 nmol/L to support mitochondria, implantation, insulin sensitivity, and menstrual cycles in PMOS.
Vitamin B12 - a difficult to absorb nutrient for some -plays a critical role in methylation which is essential for healthy cell division and DNA synthesis. Levels should be above 350 pmol/L.
Adequate B12 helps keep homocysteine levels low. Raised homocysteine can cause oxidative stress effecting egg quality .
Zinc - aim for plasma levels above 14µmol/L - Insufficient zinc is linked to longer times to conceive, abnormal embryo division, and a higher risk of early pregnancy loss.
The "Zinc Spark" at Fertilization: When Romeo (sperm) meets Juliet (egg), sparks fly & the egg releases a massive burst of zinc atoms which activates the egg & hardens its outer layer blocking other Romeo's from entering.
NR (nicotinomide Riboside) and NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide) are precursers to NAD+ a key coenzyme for cell energy production (ATP). The mouse study showing benefit to egg cells was funded by a commercial NAD+ selling company . The theory may have merit but the jury is out on actual benefit. A more recent small IV NAD+ study appears to also be funded by commercial interests.
